On March 5th and the last full day on San Cristóbal, we took a 360 degree boat tour of the island which is exactly what it sounds like. The boat, with about a dozen passengers, circles the island in a clockwise manner from the southeastern tip.
The 360 tour included a snorkeling visit to León Dormido which, in English, literally translates to "sleeping lion". For some reason which I did not investigate, the name for the spot in English is actually Kicker Rock.
León Dormido is just off the west coast of San Cristóbal and is a formation of two giant vertical rocks jutting out of the water. This area is a very popular snorkeling spot. In fact, if you are going to visit the Galápagos Islands, you will encounter many snorkeling opportunities. If you are not a big snorkeling fan, which I was not, you should spend some time conquering that fear because much of the beauty of the islands lies below the water surface.
A few bird pics from the San Cristóbal 360 tour:
Nazca Booby

Red-billed Tropicbird

Lava Gull (formerly Galapagos Gull)

That Nazca Booby is a showstopper. I've always wanted to go there. Lucky you.
Great photos!
