On the way to the western Andes above Pereira, I made yet two more stops. The first was in Salento which is a beautiful little village that sits at 6,217' (1875 meters). It is a regular stop for most visits to Colombia. Although it is interesting in its own right, almost all tours to the Cocora Valley begin in Salento. The Valley is the home to strands of wax palms which are the tallest palms in the world. Although I spent three nights in Salento, the weather prevented me from visiting the palms. Next visit to Colombia for sure.
I stayed at Hotel Terrazas de Salento. I loved this hotel. The rooms were great, the view was outstanding and the staff and breakfast was exceptional. It is just a five minute walk to an expansive mirador y maybe a ten minute walk from the center of Salento. The pueblo is full of good restaurants, cafes and shops of all types.
Photos from yet another colorful Colombian pueblo. The dog is real.

My ride to the next stop - Filandia
Such a cute, colorful pueblo. Great pics!
!Que hermosa! Gustavo Petro, Colombia's new president, recently said that Colombia was one of the three most beautiful countries in the world. Which countries could possibly be the other two?
