It is hard to convey the feeling of driving through La Guajira peninsula. Sometimes, it is stark and dry in all directions as far as you can see. Other times, the dust blows so thick that you cannot see at all. Here are a couple of videos and one photo from inside the vehicle which give a sense of the place.
