Craziest Bus Ride Ever - Jardín to Río Sucio

I wondered why the locals laughed when I told them I was going to take the bus from Jardín to Manizales through Río Sucio. I think the photos and videos below very clearly explain why. These are the public buses and more or less the only way out of Jardín without going all the way back to Medellín. They are called chivas.

The chiva bus from Jardín to Andes

My chiva bus to Río Sucio and my traveling companions for what was supposed to be a three hour trip. It took four and a half hours.

The journey begins. Turn up your volume to get the full effect.

One of the reasons the trip took so long. The dance these two huge vehicles did to get around each other was something to see.

The baño and café stop

Another reason for the length of the trip - the occasional landslide blocking the road. Not only did they often require the driver to move the rocks but required the assistance of the passengers as well!

Four hours into the trip!

hahaha. The bus looks fun! But, 4.5 hours, not so much.
