Yes, one more blog post from Mexico City before moving on to San Miguel de Allende. Mexico City is so full of interesting sights and sounds that you could fill up days of blog posts with them. We are going to stick with just one more and include a number of photos from locations scattered around the city.
Weapons from the 1800s in the Museo Nacional de Historia Castillo de Chapultepec (Museum of National History Chapultepec Castle).

The Battle of Chapultepec during the Mexican-American War holds a special place in the hearts of most Mexican citizens even though the Mexican troops lost. Although the defeat lead to the U.S. forces directly attacking Mexico City, it is still a source of pride for the country.
It was also a dark moment on the U.S. side involving the St. Patrick's Brigade. The majority of the brigade was Irish-Catholic and former members of the U.S. army corp. The brigade had changed sides and decided to fight with the Mexicans. Most of them had been killed or captured. Nearly 50 of them were hung as deserters. According to the story, thirty of them were forced to watch the battle with nooses around their necks. After the victory by the U.S. troops, they were summarily hanged. You can read more about the significance of this battle at the link above.
A few obligatory photos from Teotihuacán less than an hour outside of the city. A most impressive site, although we found it a bit disturbing that vendors are now allowed to enter the property and hawk their goods as people are trying to appreciate and show respect for the site.
