A Brief Stop in Bogotá

ezflaw

After los Llanos, we made a brief stop in Bogotá. In la Candelaria, we stumbled upon a tiny restaurant/bar called Cafe Orígenes (Calle 11/Carrera 3) . The performer in the video below was from Argentina and was performing beautiful renditions of the recordings of Carlos Gardel, one of the most famous of the early Argentinian tango artists. Among others, our entertainer covered "Por Una Cabeza" by Gardel.

Here is the story behind what is one of the most memorable tango compositions "Por Una Cabeza". Versions of the song are including in many movies including "Scent of a Woman". This is a beautiful tango performance to an instrumental version of the song.

We again visited our favorite coffee spot, Arte y Pasión Café and the best but tiniest restaurant in the area, la Puerta Falsa.

After Bogotá, Isabel returned to Costa Rica and I continued on my Colombia journey for two more months with Cartagena as my next stop.
