There is a great app called TrackMyTour which you can use to share your travel track with others or just keep it for yourself. If you are interested in following our track, click on the link below. You should then see a link for "map" either at the top or bottom of the page. If you click on "map", you should then see our track on the map. If you zoom in, you can then click on any of the waypoints for a tad more info. Also, if you save the bookmark link and click on it at a later date, it will automatically update to include the latest track and any new waypoints.

An interesting attraction near Villa de Leyva is the Blue Pools ( Pozos Azules). For various reasons, primarily the soil and other chemical in the water, these pools turn varying colors of blue and green.

Sultan the spirit guide -

On our way to the ponds, we walked on a dirt road through a small neighborhood about a kilometer from the entrance. Several dogs were around but this black dog took a special interest in us. He walked with or near us all the way to the entrance of the ponds. We were concerned about him finding his way home. The woman at concessions said that she knew him and had seen him often, but he only appeared with people who were hiking around the ponds. For the next 45 minutes Sultan walked either ahead of us or behind us through the trails encircling the seven ponds. At times when he thought we were moving too slowly he would stop and look back, as did in this photo. He continued with us when we left, but when we were near his neighborhood, he vanished and we never saw him again.

Another interesting site in Villa de Leyva is la Casa de Cerámica (Terracota House). All I will say is that, well, it is a house built out of terracota. The photos speak for themselves.

Next up - another pueblo patrimonio of Colombia - Monguí.
