Tayrona National Park, located on the Caribbean coast, is one of the most visited national parks in Colombia. This is because of its natural beauty as well as the fact that it is easily accessible. There are at least three entry points. El Zaino is the farthest east entry point and is only an hour bus ride from the central market in Santa Marta. Buses run no less often than every thirty minutes but they fill up quickly.
We stayed at an excellent hotel surrounded by its own trails and jungle. It is a bit difficult to access but worth the trouble. You have to cross two shallow rivers to get there from the main road, but if you have bags the owner of the hotel will come get you.
PN Tayrona is beautiful and has some outstanding beaches. The hike into the park from el Zaino is an experience with trails up and down on wooden planks and over and under rocks.
A few photos from the park itself.
Photos from the beautiful and uniquely designed Hotel Barranquero - - and Lulú.
I'd love to see the beach scenes and the monkey, but if I had to wade two shallow rivers in a jungle to get to the hotel, I would definitely call the owner for a ride. And what do you mean "IF" you have luggage? Don't all travelers have luggage??
You and Isabella look really happy sitting at the table and very engaged as you scope out birds with your binoculars. Keep up the fun!
You two look like you're having the time of your lives! Looks good on ya!
Breathtaking! Have you found any new bird finds?
Oozing happiness 😍
