After Barichara, we headed by bus to San Gil where we took yet another long bus ride to Girón, a small pueblo patrimonio on the outskirts of Bucaramanga.
The highlight of the bus trip is the harrowing drive above, down and through Chicamocha Canyon. This canyon is purportedly the second largest canyon in the world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicamocha_Canyon
The road snakes very near the edge, twisting and turning from top to bottom and through different habitats. It is a breath-taking ride.
After spending the night in Girón, we flew to Santa Marta on the Caribbean coast. Santa Marta is the gateway to Tayrona National Park which is just to the east. A post from PN Tayrona to follow soon.
