There are two relatively common species of parrots in this area. The White-crowned is by far the more common and can be heard almost daily flying north into the higher elevations. At times the number exceeds more than 100. The White-fronted Parrot is much less common and almost always is seen only as a pair or occasionally two pair.
There are three commons species of parakeets here. The Crimson-fronted is the most common and by far the loudest. The much smaller Orange-chinned is usually seen in small groups but only once every week or so. The Orange-fronted Parakeet is much more seasonal and rarely seen here at all from August through October.
